Santa Cruz County is situated on the California coast at the northern tip of Monterey Bay about 65 miles south of San Francisco. The county seat is Santa Cruz which is also the largest city in the county. Other incorporated cities within Santa Cruz County are Watsonville, Scotts Valley and Capitola. Santa Cruz County stretches between the coast and the Santa Cruz Mountains, and is divided into several regions: the urban area with the city of Santa Cruz, Soquel, Capitola and Aptos, the mountainous region with the town of Bonny Doon and the agriculture area with the city of Watsonville. Most of the coastline is flanked by cliffs.
